4 things you must know before breastfeeding

Hi friend <3

Are you planning to breastfeed🤱🏻? If you want to avoid unpleasant surprises, then take notes.

These are the 4️⃣ facts I wish I knew prior to breastfeeding my baby (based on my personal experience).

1️⃣Your breasts will be very sensitive. When you’re pregnant your body goes through significant changes. Your breasts are part of that change. For me it was the sensitivity. They were so sensitive, sometimes even wearing a bra felt painful.

2️⃣It hurts. Let me paint a picture. Your baby is a new human who is learning everything. Everything includes latching to your breasts. Your breasts are sensitive. So a new baby + sensitive breast= very painful experience for mommy.

3️⃣You may bleed. In the beginning babies are learning to latch. That learning process is composed of the baby latching wrong and then releasing, and then trying again to latch and releasing again. That back and forth may lead to bleeding. It’s a pretty painful experience.

4️⃣Your breasts  will change. Your breasts will never be the same. Imagine a balloon. A balloon gets inflated, then when all the air is out they just get deflated and look like this 💧, lol. #truestory

So, if you’re planning on breastfeeding, be cognisant of these factors.

If I knew these 4️⃣ facts beforehand I think I would’ve prepared myself better mentally.

Informed decisions are always better made.
